Having finished his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 1993, Shailesh working as a freelance artist with a studio in Cholamandal Artists’ Village, Chennai. He worked in all mediums of visual art- Painting, Sculpture, Installation and Video art. Shailesh’s fascination with Yoga where the body can twist and turn, bend and bow into powerful postures is evident in his paintings and sculptures. Over the years the depiction of the yogic poses has taken different strokes; man and animal, man and nature, man and the divine… and so on.

He received Tamil Nadu State Award in 2016, Camlin Art Foundation Award in 2012, Lyon Award in France in year 2008 to name a few. He is recipient of several other awards and accolades since his college days. His works feature in Germany, Korea, France and Hyatt Regency in Chennai, Lalit Kala Akademi and many private collectors.
