The 26 December 2004 tsunami was an unprecedented global phenomenon that lasted for a few minutes but left a trail of destruction that would take years to restore the shattered lives and battered environment.Fisher folk communities in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Indonesia bore the brunt of the tsunami disaster.
