The Tenth Meeting of the Governing Council (GCM-10) of the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO) was held today (25 June 2020). GCM-10 was held online. Delegates to the GCM-10 comprised, Md Towfiqul Arif, Joint Secretary (Fisheries), Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock and Dr. Md Sharif Uddin, Chief Scientific Officer, Marine Fisheries Survey Unit, Department of Fisheries, Government of Bangladesh; Dr. Rajeev Ranjan, IAS, Secretary (Fisheries), Dr. J Balaji, IAS, Joint Secretary (Fisheries), Mr. I A Siddqui, Deputy Commissioner (Fisheries) and Dr. Sanjay Pandey, Assistant Commissioner (Fisheries), Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India; Mr. Hassan Rasheed, Hon’ble State Minister, Mr. Adam Ziyad, Director General, and Mr. Ahmed Shifaz, Assistant Director, Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources & Agriculture, Government of Maldives; and Ms. R M I Rathnayake, Secretary (Fisheries), Mr. Dhammika Ranathunga, Director General (Technical), Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and Mr. H M P Kithsiri, Deputy Director General (Research and Development), National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency, Government of Sri Lanka. Dr. Yugraj Singh Yadava, Director, Mr. Rajdeep Mukherjee, Policy Analyst, and Mr. S Jayaraj, Publication Officer represented the BOBP-IGO Secretariat. Ms. R M I Rathnayake was elected as the Chair of GCM-10. The GCM reviewed the work carried out by the Organisation and approved the Work-Plan for 2020-21. The GCM also discussed various administrative issues of the Organisation. Appreciating the work carried out by the Organisation, the GCM underscored the importance of BOBP-IGO in strengthening regional cooperation and called for further strengthening of the Organisation.
